Planetdance for windows / Re: embedded script windows.
« on: September 06, 2020, 01:57:33 PM »
So far i've only seen people being enthousiast about it.
I say maybe try it a few days if something funny comes up, then make this a new standard.
I'd even postpone the android work a few days to convert some more scripts.
Note not all scripts are evenly suited.
Others could have interesting possibilities yes, like time list with space on the left for graphs or something.
Dazzling. :)

When i designed it, I choose to make the astrobasic window form a separate one, and give it an entry in the taskbar because else you couldn't make a small simple scripts to show some info.
But more extensive scripts could benefit from being embedded like horoscopes.

Pro / cons.

+ the most screenspace
+ user friendly, a tab like the others
+ has been requested
- the programmer has more work (use vars width / height to determine how much, what / where to display).
- There is no main menu at the top possible (but there is a button which has the same functionality).

Well it's turning out rather complicated. It's a little bit better now but not optimal. I'm gonna try something new for WHS but that will take a bit of time.

[Edit] 1 hour later, i tried a few things but the part that draws a horoscope is quite complex and i'd have to redesign things to improve this situation. Frankly i'm not too happy with this but for now it's the best i can do. You can see the problem illustrated when you move a horoscope in time per minute using the arrows. The housecusps dance a bit round the signcusps, sometimes exact, sometimes one pixel off.
[Edit 2] If you still see cusps that are off too much, please redownload.

ah that's what you mean, see pic.

for the second question, yes, those modules are separate windows and don't react to the window menu.

Good evening all
small detail, would it be possible to have a shortcut
database selection
Files / open / files / open
to have the large windows of the different bases in a shortcut

Have you seen options - keyboard? You can define a shortcut for File - Open, i have Ctrl-O

can we also close windows with a shortcut that are not the charts but any window displayed above the other

I don't understand this one. Which window?

I'm not sure about this but i'm having second thoughts about the best size of a script, in short, it's a pity that we have to support the laptop screensize. A recent poll at facebook showed a clear majority using full hd. And people using full hd are sometimes complaining about too small size. To be honest, i wouldn't mind if an important script like your greek would be full hd. I think if an astrologer is serieus about the software he'd use a decent monitor. But it's a tricky call.

Hey Livio, great to see you posting here.

This part of your question i don't understand, you want to search for an aspect string, what do you mean?

increasing a total to snap to the detected aspect string

for creating plain text files there is linewrite() see c:\planetdance\ab\excel.ab for an example.
Code: [Select]
char s[99];
for (i < count)
  strset(s, "blabla", arg arg);
  linewrite("mytmp.txt", s);

But maybe even better is strlist(), you can sort the list, save it to a file, etc. It has an example in the help.

I'm not really sure what you want to do, maybe you can explain it some more?

Frank wat bedoel je met dat je de complete radix niet ziet, is er een stuk van de cirkel weg ofzo. Kun je het beschrijven of een screenshot plaatsen?

Glad you found a fix!
As for what caused all this it's hard to say also because it was resistant between the first reboots you did.

I meant try to install fresh to some brand new map like c:\test, see if you get the same errors.
I'm sure if you install to some other pc it would work, this is very specific.

If you edit c:\planetdance\pd.ini and change these two to 1 it will skip the dialog for a new place and the one for dateformat/language, see if it starts after this.

If you also would like to skip the window with what'snew do this

That is 10 times a 9.

There are two issues here, the error from the installer. That is not my software so i have no control over it. It is very widely used however and should function. I also have no explanation for that error. Only thing i could think of is that setupplanetdance.exe is somehow corrupted, maybe a new download could help but you may have tried that already.

The other issue is the strange behaviour from planetdance itself. Shortly after a new install, the window with the what'snew text comes up, do you see that window?

Then there's another thing you can try, download and replace your copy with that one, at least you'd be sure you have the latest pd.exe

If that problem persists i can make a debug build that generates a logfile.

Another thing you could try is install into some other map, see what it does.

The error is from the installer, somehow that process is still active and complains. It says 'internal error' so this must be some strange issue.
Did you try a reboot and try to install again? Please note that planetdance should be closed before updating.
The firewall setting only affects planetdance's way of updating itself, regardless of firewall you can always re-download from the site.
If it still exits, what you could do is rename c:\planetdance\pd.ini to something else, then restart it.

August 30
+ Fixed symbols size not set correctly on the aspect table for synastry, also made some adjustments to it for screens with lower resolution.
