Classic, Medieval, Vedic / Re: Vedic Astrology Module Enhancements
« on: February 28, 2021, 11:11:06 AM »
Hi there - thanks for the feedback. At present I don't have any plans to increase the functionality of the Vedic module. It is designed to be an introduction to Vedic methods for Western astrologers so includes all the basic approaches found in textbooks for those starting Vedic astrology coming from a western background. I have considered scripting some of the main yogas, but the work is incredibly complicated and is probably best left to experts in Vedic astrology.

For those wanting more detailed Vedic astrology, there is always Jagannatha Hora to download for free.

Best wishes.

Planetdance on Other OS / Planetdance on a Mac
« on: February 09, 2021, 08:48:03 PM »
Hi - the following may be of interest to Mac users. Thanks to Nefgem.

hello everyone, i would like to share here a possibility i use to make planet dance work on mac. which may be of interest to mac users who do not want to emulate a heavy solution.
I did a re-install on H-sierra, but it worked under el capitan.
you will absolutely need to install
1 XQuartz for mac
2 WineBottlerCombo_1.6.1 (or maybe higher)
define a PC / wine / folder
I haven't tried later versions yet
I hope that this will work for you
Thanks to Jean for being able to preserve the possibility of running Planet Dance with Wine.

Hi Les - thanks for your posting, Welcome to the forum. This sounds like a job for Jean's astrobasic. Most of the supplementary scripts you find in the menus are coded using AB. If you have some programming knowledge it will be very easy to learn. You could create your own script and offer it to Jean for publishing within the main program. The custom ring on the outside of the main wheel is maintained by Jean within the main PD codebase.

There's a video about astrobasic on the youtube channel.

I hope that helps. Ed

Planetdance for windows / Re: Planetary hours
« on: February 06, 2021, 02:15:18 PM »
Thanks Sindy - the bug seems to be isolated to the Planetaryhour module. This is calculated using a different algorithm to the other implementations of planetary hours, which, as you say are right.

Jean will have a look at this when he has time.

Hi Sindy - first thing - do you have the same location for the different modules. To get the correct planetary hour ruler from the Planetaryhour script, you will have to ensure that you have chosen the correct location to match the location of the chart. Planetaryhour sets the place to the default location unless you manually change it using the Place menu.

Let me know if that fixes your problem.
